Who is your insurance company? Collectors insurance, with Hagerty or Grundy, hasn’t been a problem for me.

And the fact that people pay it is even more so. What ever happened to the idea of releasing a car, asking a decent price for the average american, and just making the damn thing? Now car dealers make a big deal out of every new car that comes out, ask extremely high prices, and then complain that they are losing money. Gee, I wonder why? Make cars for the average person, not the rich and stupid. Ford started the new Mustang that way and look how much of a hit it became. I think they are even losing that focus with the new Shelby. $57,000, are you serious?
When I lived in Texas I got to know some very “old money” wealthy people. They all said the same thing, never buy new. The value of every new car drops 19% the day you take it off of the lot. Let someone else take the hit. Wait two years.
In the case of the new Challenger, or Camaro, that is still sound advice. wait until some become used cars and buy them for a more affordable price. I understand wanting to be the first but is it worth all of that? The car will continue to lose money for at least 10 years. And even then do you know where the economy will be? 15 years ago, muscle cars were a bad investment. No one knew that they were going to become this valuable. By the time the new Challengers and Camaros are collectable will they be valuable or just old?

Dodge put number 2 (the second one to be produced) up on ebay with all proceeds going to the United Way of Southern Michigan. The bidding was only open to dealers. The bidding ended last night aty a total of over $175,000!!!!! Wow. That is crazy.
Number 1 goes on the auction block at Barrett-Jackson in January.
jonmandudeParticipantI don’t agree with that Rach. A judge should remain impartial to vehicle preference. Quality of the workmanship is more important than “I don’t like Chevrolets”. If someone does not like a car brand, they should not judge. If they can’t appreciate all, then they are biased….and bias has no place in judging.

Don’t add more than you can handle. Too often people stretch themselves too thin. If you don’t have enough help to do multiple things, than keep it simple. It is better to do a few things well than to cheapen many things by doing them poorly. Yes, it is always nice to offer the attendees a lot to see and do. But quality always overshadows quantity.
jonmandudeParticipantWell, last night was nice. The weather was perfect and a lot of nice cars, 76 to be exact. Thanks goes out to Lake Wisconsin Cruisers for bringing so many nice cars out.
Next week is Blue Chip Street Rods. I hope this weather continues to be nice. The leaves haven’t reallt started turning yet so I think we should still have a few more weeks.
jonmandudeParticipantAny history of this show?
jonmandudeParticipantThe only thing I know of into October is QSL. I keep mine going until it gets too cold and we all start to store our babies. I try to give us all something to do while the weather holds out. I am thinking about an end of the year night around Halloween.
Lake WI cruisers will be at QSL this week.
jonmandudeParticipantJust got back from Pokerville. I must say that Will did an exceptional job setting this show up. There wasn’t a big turnout, but what did show was very nice. I hope Will does this show again next year and that it continues to grow. I think it could very easily become one of those shows that everyone looks forward to.
jonmandudeParticipantI want to thank Jim and the Wisconsin summer Cruisers along with the Mustang club for making it out this week. It was another beautiful night with 57 cars. I hope we have many more nights this year to go. I hoping to go thru October..weather permitting.
I did have a customer come up with an idea to end the season. What do you all think of this? For the last week in October I always try to plan a costume car show. This year maybe a POS night, a kind of anti-car show. Bring your winter beaters and worst car wins.
jonmandudeParticipantWill has big plans for the show saturday. Arlen and Cory Ness are there to sign autographs, I don’t know if they are judging. There are three bands and a dj. He has so much planned that I am not sure if he hasn’t put too much into it. Cars, bikes, bands, stuff for the kids, catered food, beer garden.
I know he thinks there will be thousands there, and for him I hope it happens that way. I honestly am a little skeptical of what the real turnout will be. To me it sounds like the luau at the Lube earlier this year, big plans, little turnout. He is basing his guess on phone calls and people saying that they will be there. We had over two hundred cars and three hundred bikes say they would be at our luau and we had 35 cars and about 40 bikes. People promise the world but seldom deliver. Plus the weather isn’t exactly the warmest for spending the day outside or riding a bike to Blue Mounds.
Like I said, for Will’s sake I hope he has an excellent turnout, but my gut tells me it will be less than he expects, still decent just not 4000.
jonmandudeParticipantI just got back from the “planning” and I still have no idea how this show is going to be. Will is putting a lot into it, but that may or may not play out. I guess we’ll see.
jonmandudeParticipantI am going out to pokerville tonight for a “pre-show planning”. They have asked me to help with parking the bikes and such. I will let you all know what is happening, so maybe some of you will be interested?
jonmandudeParticipantWith the black vette sold, he hasn’t had a desire to go to shows. plus he has had some health issues..diabetes.
I think I know the red vette too. they are both friends.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:I would say about 90 cars, no imports that I saw. They were all afraid of losing to me again. LOL. But seriously, there were only a few imports there last year and my Maxima took best of 5 or more mods. That is the real beauty of this show, there is so much variety.
