See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

music sucks. I hate hearing that same old rehashed 50’s stuff. Variety is the key, something for everyone.
One trophy per car works for me as well. Again something for everyone. Don’t send people home empty handed while one guy can’t find room for the trophies and his children too.

What I hate most? year restrictions. Can we get past the “only up to (insert model year here) crap?” This is a hobby that we enjoy, and there is a new generation of hobbyists that need to be included. I know many don’t understand, but why disclude someone for your ignorance. Include everyone.

I think you will find that changing. Show organizers (at least those not a specific kind of car club)are looking to increase attendance during the somewhat sketchy economy.

Food at Gus’ Diner is highly recommended. They have a great variety of food and cars.

I have seen lordairguitar at work (Wisconsin Early Mustanger’s annual Venus Ford, All Ford Show)the past several years in Cudahay.

He does a outstanding job, has a nice selection of music, and like he said above “make the announcements, plug the vendors, and thank the hosts”. Needless to say, but this is one DJ that does a car show proud.

I think I’m blushing now. Thanks for the compliment.

    — Music selection or DJ’s

The DJ’s seemed to be better last year at most of the shows we went to, I heard a good variety of music. It’s hard to believe anything from the 60’s is 40 years+ old now, and the music selections should be accordingly. I like to hear everything from the 50’s to current.

As a DJ, I really take these suggestions to heart. There is no way a DJ could have every song that someone might want to suggest, but I try. I would suggest that other DJs read car forums and learn from them. DJs are there to provide an ambiance, not to hear themselves talk. Do make the announcements, plug the vendors, thank the hosts.

Dealing with the chimps they put at the entrance who do not think my car is an entry. This happened with both the 83 Marquis wagon and the newer HHR.

There are very few car shows in Madison so this one is welcome. You won’t find a show with more spectators than this one. And from talking with some people who brought their cars last year, they had no issues.

agreed. This is a great show to get the public involved to see it they can catch the bug too.

Old hippie dude: Hey, I was enjoyin’ my buzz walking down State street, and like guess what, they had like these old cool cars with V8s in ’em.

Old hippie chicky: Wow! Talk about no respect for Mother Nature. I’ll bet they were real proud of their fossil fueled beasts. Maybe we should mount a protest.

OHD: I’m thinkin’ ’bout draggin’ the old Vega out of the back yard and restoring it. Maybe drop in a 350.

OHC: WHAT!!!??? And ruin my compost bin? No way.

OHD: Be cool sister, it’s like recycling…takin something old and rebuilding it, like your old bicycle.

OHC: It’ll be cool, I know a dude who wrecked his Prius and we can get the battery pack and controls out of it and mate it to the 350 and it’ll be awesome. It’ll be fast and good for the planet.

OHD: That’s what I mean, sister! Now I just need to get a real job instead of boxing day old bread at the co-op.

Perhaps one could get together with the car people and the car clubs and ask for a solution to the problem of skaters and bikes.

It will not be 3-D sound as Dave is usually booked. I think we are going with the DJ that we had last year. He was not bad and only 1/4 the price of 3D Sound. Our first year at the VFW  we had 3D sound there and had the girls … not a good thing.

Who is going to be your DJ, Chevy_Lady? And where is this show?

It’s hard enough to get business to come here as it is and he wants to tax multi state corporations on top of the already high taxes they pay. I don’t see the gov and the rest of the pols taking pay cuts. License fees for certain businesses are going up and I am sure the UW system won’t be hurting too bad. I understand education is important and the quality of it must be maintained, but do we really need some of those smaller schools in the UW systems. Doyle to his credit has done well by UW. I’m not familiar with Chancellor Martin, is she a good Chancellor?

3D Sound has an impressive fleet of sound trucks and can do shows in several places at once.

Well, some of those measures are at least better than the people in Kansas have gotten. They are not getting their tax refunds from the state. The state just decided to keep it.

I wouldn’t classify Taco Bell as actual food:lol:

    That’s what I meant!:woohoo:

I don’t seem to be able to get onto the rating thread. I really liked the show.
