The prices on collector cars is through the roof.
However, what goes up will come down. Its a sellers market right now, but when the bubble bursts like it did in ’08 the owners will be selling them off again for cents on the dollar. Your King of the Mountain cars (Boss 429 Mustangs, Hemi’s, LS6 Chevelles) will always hold strong value.
Each day it gets a little harder for the blue collar person to own, maintain, and afford one of these machines.
moparkid25ParticipantI have found my latest internet addiction is the auction site Bring a Trailer. Lots of different, cool stuff goes up for auction there.
moparkid25ParticipantSales at Mecum were crazy. I’m a firm believer in what goes up must come down (unless we’re talking taxes), I just hope we don’t see another 2008. Its getting harder and harder for the common man to own a classic.
moparkid25ParticipantFriday June 4 is also Cars on the Square in Monroe. Gate opens at 4:30pm, if you’re going and want to park on the Square, get there early!
moparkid25ParticipantDane County property taxes in general are ridiculously high for what we get. Out here, our county roads never get fixed, all the money is spent in Madison on bike paths. Our county exec is nothing more than a puppet of Madisons mayor, what madison wants, madison gets – thanks to our taxes.
I guess I shouldn’t bitch too much…. Mine went down this year. Guess I’ll go buy that Ferrari now (that’s sarcasm).
moparkid25ParticipantI went, the weather was complete shit but it was nice on Sunday. Overall had a good weekend, it was nice to get out from underneath all this covid scam BS and Ever’s “mandates.”
moparkid25ParticipantSpringdale Lutheran Church cancelled their show for August 22. They are instead hosting a cruise that day.
Mt. Vernon’s show will be cancelled for 9/19 unless the State GOP gets their heads out of their asses and puts and end to Evers reign of terror.
I’m so done with 2020, and the bullshit that came with it.
moparkid25ParticipantI’ve never hated living in Dane County more than I do these days.
moparkid25ParticipantBlanchardville is still on! As of right now anyway…
I only planned to attend a few shows this year, and those are still on. They are all also far, far away from Dane County. In my travels for work, the farther away from the state capital I am, the less afraid people are. It’s nice.

moparkid25ParticipantI’ve thought about this for a couple days. Having this event in September may actually be better, this year will determine. The weather is usually good, where in May its questionable. Having it in Sept after labor day means a lot of the attractions are closed. I guess we shall see.
I’ve about had it with the Government telling me what to do, and not being able to do anything.
moparkid25ParticipantIf they don’t get this virus under control, summer is really going to suck.
I think many have already had it, thinking it was the flu. What I don’t like is we get the numbers of the deaths related to coronavirus, but we don’t hear how many people had other health issues. How many that died were over 60 years old? How prolonged were the symptoms prior to receiving medical care? I’m a guy who likes facts and research. I’m also a guy who’s gonna be really pissed off if my summer is ruined because someone decided to eat a bunch of bats in another country.
Let’s not forget its also an election year. No Russian collusion, no dirt on Justice Kavanaugh, no one believes Stormy Daniels, no impeachment…. Is this the next chapter in the Democrats playbook to oust Trump? I wouldn’t put it past them.
moparkid25ParticipantThe VFW is a great location for car shows. Unfortunately for me, I believe this is also the same day as our church car show in Mt. Horeb. If so, I won’t be able to attend. Is there a way to donate to the cause if someone cannot attend?
moparkid25ParticipantNick,
I think a lot of folks have the same feelings you do regarding risk to their vehicles no matter the genre. That has what has hurt a lot of the attendance for the Automotion show the past couple of years. Everyone’s friends Bruce and Kathy Stewart took their Ford home a couple years ago because the spring break element were tossing there empty beer cans off the balcony into the truck parked next to Bruces car. Not much of an enjoyable weekend when you have to worry. I’m fortunate that where I stay, its the same group of people year after year and none of the monkey business that goes on at other motels (usually the ones owned by Mt Olympus) takes place at ours. That doesn’t mean that I still don’t get up and make the rounds to check the cars in the middle of the night.
UPDATE:
BOTI, or Battle of the Imports, was also denied a permit to host their annual show at Bobbers. According to the BOTI/WPC website, the show is on hold while they determine their next steps. I’ve said it before, this is a good group of people and I feel bad for them. Hopefully they can make the most out of it and continue to have their show. There’s a lot of chatter on the facebook from WCEC cult members and other entitled twits that they are coming to Automotion with the purpose of jamming up the parkway and making traffic a mess. Some of them also have the idea to take over parking lots of businesses and have pop-up meets. I get that some of them have put non refundable deposits down on there motel rooms, and can’t get it back. Welcome to reality. The law will still have there hands full.
moparkid25ParticipantI’ve had Nick do some artwork for me in the past. Always excellent results!
