See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

I hope the weather is better next weekend then it was the past weekend. This year has had the poorest weather for shows that I can remember.

You said that about the weather last year too

I submitted my review like everyone else did, those are my thoughts. The club did a great job, I also said I enjoyed the day and it was a good show, you must have missed that part.

Judging is a big deal, I know it is a lot of work. I attend several shows and know that many prefer to have their cars judged fairly, not just by the color, make or model. I also don’t appreciate being called a trophy hound. Winning awards is very nice THE day of the show when you are surrounded by your peers, after that the awards collect dust, anyone can agree with me on that. I never, ever expect to win an award, the quality of cars has increased so much you never know what you’re going to see from one show to the next, which is a great thing.

We all should consider ourselves lucky there are so many shows in the area, most often several to choose from. I attend shows to enjoy the day with my friends and family, winning is a bonus.

I have never paid $2 for a can of soda at a show, and never will.

You possibly need to attend more shows to give an accurate review.

I believe ddhemi is the resident trophy hound

I know that I’m NOT going to Jefferson, because that has just become a waste of time and money.

A friend of mine that lives up by Windsor has his car back on the road, and he’s been wanting me to hit up the Marshall thing with him this weekend, don’t know if I will or not yet. Most likely will be a last-minute decision. I’m kinda pissed that the Buick show isn’t going on in Stockton this year, but if the weather is nice on the 8th (and I don’t have to work) I’m going to check out this South Wayne gig.

I was able to track down some info on this show:

*Held from 8a-2p on Main Street
*Held in conjunction with Blackhawk Homecoming
*At 11a, participants are welcome to drive there vehicle in the homecoming parade
    *FREE Registration
    *NON-Judged show
*Dash plaques for the first 50 cars

This is being put on by a new car club that has started in that area, and would appreciate any support they can get on Oct. 8th.

Nothing for me next weekend, either.

It will be nice to see my Minnesota Vikings hopefully win one next week.

Yeah I heard the guy who puts this show on is one of the dishonest candy-asses who lied about the year of his car to get it into the Dairy Days show…. I can’t wait to see him again.

Are they the same as a 1970? I know a guy who bought one… Though he hasn’t yet had the chance to get the carpets dirty yet :(

After reading luxuryliners’ rate the show, I’m reminded again of how terrible the guy who constantly rambled on the microphone really was. I think I speak for every attendee at the show when I say someone should’ve cut him off. One thing I didn’t touch on in my review that I did think was kinda cool was the Santa Claus/Uncle Jesse looking guy going around interviewing some people who had cars there.

And yes, the 03 Corvette and the 01 Stratus that was an 02 by the VIN were at least two of the cars who were cheating.

And for the record, a 1998 Buick LeSabre is a very rare car and should stay in the special interest class. GM only made 4,587,612 of those cars in that color with those options

Yeah, it was a bummer that the cop was there. He pulled me over for not having a front plate on. He was pretty cool about it…but still sucks that they were policing.

That’s profiling, I dont have a front plate and I didn’t get stopped, and I drove past him before you did

No shows for me on Saturday – A guy I work with/friend of mine for many years has decided he needs to marry his girlfriend, so Saturday after work I’m going to the funeral.

Sunday I will head to Platteville :)

We’ve attended some great shows through the years.. I remember going to a few at the Black Bear in Cottage Grove that were always great.

This little show at the Black Bear in Cottage Grove outgre that location and moved to the VFW on County CV and became the Klassarama. The organizers of this show were Dean Ross, Al Peck, and Russ Tollefson, and a couple others. Believe it or not, their show grew and thrived for 24 years, one year short of the 25th anniversary, before it fell out of grace with the VFW and went away.

Klassarama…. That’s the show I was talking about. Couldn’t remember the name, thanks Marshall!!
