I wouldn’t be so quick to judge, Tobacco Heritage Days is the town festival. There is a group of people that organize that festival. The car show is part of one of the many activities that weekend. The car show is run by a totaly different group of people, the same group for quite a few years, they want to try the cruise to the park to try and help out the festival. It is a very short cruise and we just want to see how it goes. I realize that you cannot make everybody happy but if people would just give this a try insted of the car show is going to be runied.
The Tobacco Days Car Show in my mind is the best car show around. Edgerton has lots of car enthusiast’s and a lot of them are on the car show committee, these guys and girls put on one of the greatest shows, who are open to sugestions and comments.
As for the guy bringing his family I would like to think that they will allow two free passes per car to the park, that covers your entry fee to the car show if you look at it that way. if that is not good enough I would be willing to pay the two other passes out of my pocket if that makes you feel better. The five dollars that people pay to get into the park goes to a non-profit organization that gets returned back to the community.
Just think you have to wait till the next day at the Dells to get your trophy if thats what your there for, and thats one of the biggest shows around. I dont ever win a trophy at the dells but I stay for the second day.

It’s not that the entrants to the show are afraid of trying something different, it’s that your new plan will not work. I also go to the dells for the entire weekend, and do not win awards there. I pay $15 if I don’t pre-reg, which equals out to $7.50 per day. That is less than paying the normal $10 to get into a local show. The dells also doesn’t charge me extra for a passenger to ride in, so don’t start comparing your local show to Automotion – your show isn’t that big.

Your show is popular among many local car people. Msmonte posted the updates here to get a response to what attendee’s thought and she got it. No one is mad at or attacking her, and she was willing to put herself at the mercy of those who have show cars.

In my personal opine, your subject line “WOW! ARE WE AFRAID OF SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT??” is a return tactic on not being able to handle constructive criticism. Myself and other members of this forum are only trying to help you out. If your donating to a non-profit organization, you should have a donation stand available where spectators and attendees can donate additional money to whatever charity you are helping along with the $10 entry fee. Don’t make it a mandatory donation. You’ve got 3 days to make some changes if your and your group chooses to, and I hope you take the suggestions here to heart.

I just wanted to relay some info for the Edgerton Tobacco Days car show.
I can not remember what I put in my last message so I might repeat things that I said then.

We have added a anther Mustang class, peoples choice and a king and queen of show. There will be a cruise out to race track park where Best
of show, peoples choice and king and queen will be awarded.

Entrance for the car show will be on Canal st off of Hwy 51/73, right next to the bank of Edgerton. Hwy 59W from stop lights to Swift st will be closed.
We will be taking money when you pull in (unless your pre registered).
You will get a band that will allow driver and car into the park. Unfortunatly
there will be a $5.00 charge for anybody else in the vehicle.
    Kids 12 and
under are free. I know this sucks but right know the tobacco days committe will only allow us 1 free entry to the park per car. We are tring to find a way to resolve this with out upping the entry fee so please bear with us. You can buy a pin that will get you in all weekend and enters you
into a drawing to win $1000.00 for $9.00 at the gate.

There will be an oldies band “The Bell Cats” 3-7pm. Then “Crossfire” plays
from 8-12pm. There is food and drink at the park.

This is the 1st time for the cruise, so if it seems a little confusing at first
I’m sorry ahead of time. We will try to do the best we can. Any mistakes
we make this year will be fixed next year, but I think we have got it figured out.

Once we get to the park there will be reserved parking for the show cars.
We will have front row parking. The awards will be just after we get there.

We do have a website http://www.tobaccadayscarshow.com. This should be up
    on Monday.

There will be a lot of things going on in town. For anybody that’s never been there, there is an open air market at city hall, a book sale at the community center, art/craft fair at central park plus much more. most things are within one block of where the car show is at.

And last everybody is invited to be in the parade on Sunday with their cars

Ok I think I am done. Hope to see you there.

I think you need to print off the feedback you have recieved here and take it to your fellow committee members.

$10 to get into a show is about the average registration fee. However, you would have to be completely dedicated or completely insane to pay an addtional $5 per person in the vehicle to get them into the show also. To me, from reading your post, it appears as if the Tobacco Days Committee is attempting to cover the costs of the evening entertainment at the cost of those who would be bringing in THERE CARS TO A CAR SHOW THAT ALREADY ATTRACTS MEMBERS OF YOUR COMMUNITY. I see this as unfair to those who work hard to have there collector cars and truck. Marvelous is right, with Gas Prices at an all-time high, you want to have you show appeal to those with vehicles so that they do come to your show.

Take my post as constructive critiscm, it is not meant to offend. Unfortunately, if they do not change there registration policy, you won’t see me there – for $10 my girl should get in for free.

    Specific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – Easy for me since I live a few miles south of Blue Mounds and Cty F takes me right to Blanchardville. Circletrack called me to get directions when the detours on Hwy 78 led them on a goose chase.
Parking Location – A, I was right under a huge oak tree. Plenty of shade all day.
Class Organization – C, this really sucked if you were a judge. We were told during the judges meeting that if a car is parked with there club, go to the club and judge it. If they are not parked in there class, don’t go out of your way to find them and judge them. I was missing two cars to judge but found them. The other side of the coin on this one is that some wanted to be in a class where they didn’t belong, and some of the crew helping were parking cars in the wrong classes.
Trophies & Prizes – Typical nice trophies, and a few won door prizes.
Food – Burgers and Brats, usual.
Entertainment – 3D sound with Dave Palmer. Dave knows his cars!
Judging – From what I saw, every class was judged fair (including the one I was in thumbsup.gif ). There was some issues with club cars not getting judged, and I think that was laziness on other judges part not wanting to go to out where they were parked.
Dash Plaque – Very nice once again.
Variety of Cars – The selection was good, but the numbers for the show were way down this year. Gas prices? Economy?
Bathrooms – Plastic potties nearby and throughout the park, and a pavillion restroom near the ball diamond.
Weather – Perfect, the best Blanchardville weather ever!
Trophy Presentation Timing – Late as usual, but not as late as most years.
    Entry Fee – $6 pre-reg, $12 day of show.
Overall Rating:B The usual Blanchardville show.

I know of someone who may be able to help you out. He has a 1941 Cadillac business coupe. I will pass along your info to him and see if he is interested. If so, how may he contact you? Could you send me a phone number in a PM?

$25?!!! Are you kidding?!! The Hot Rod Power Tour was $25 and there is no way QSL rates anywhere near that quality of a show. You cannot tell me that QSL had to buy the door prizes. it is just a milk the people for some money thing.

He has no right to come across the street and tell anyone what they can and can’t display on there vehicle. I could see him telling the guy with the truck not to display the CSA stars and bars while on his property.

*(this is where I vent about people having a problem with the confederate flag. It is not a sign of racism, it is a flag for a group of rebels who wanted to have there own country and there own ideas ((some of which I don’t agree with…like slavery)). I really get tired of all these “groups” who demand the confederate flag be abolished. That flag is just apart of this country as the battle of the Alamo. I don’t hear anyone defending the native americans about our white ancestors taking there land…)*

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, I will give my two cents. I would go back and talk to him, but do it with some tact. If he gets all hot headed with you, post the details of the conversation here. This will get the word out that Gus might be an ass and change the perspective of his cruise nights. I’m not saying to go out and intentionally damage his business, but let people know how he acts and how his wife acted towards you and others.

This could be a good time, and I would be interested in going. I only have a few questions though:

    1. Is there going to be a designated area for the collector cars to park and be secure during the game?

    2. How will they keep all the drunk tailgators from doing any damage or stupid human tricks near the nice cars?

Thursday after work DDhemi and I are going to Janesville and see if we can ol’ Jack to put his John Hancock on DD’s new Roush Mustang.

Weather permitting, I will also attend Blanchardville since it’s 10 miles from my house.

    Specific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – B, I sorta knew were I was going and found some signs as I got closer
Parking Location – B, the cars that sit a bit lower to the ground were weary at first but it was fine.
Class Organization – Many different classes, next year they should park classes together. However it was nice they let you park together as groups.
Trophies & Prizes – Trophies for 1st and runner up
    Food – I’m thinkin Arbys….. drool.gif
Entertainment – Sound system with good selection of music. I can’t think of any other show where I got to hear Bad Company!
Judging – participant, fine for a show this size.
Dash Plaque – None, but this is a first year show.
Variety of Cars – A, lots of local area cars and trucks.
Bathrooms – Didn’t have to use one for once….
    Weather – Perfect
Trophy Presentation Timing – A little behind schedule, but I give them the benefit of the doubt being a first year show.
Entry Fee – $5, every show should be $5.
    Overall Rating:B+

Congrats to all the forum winners!!! I think this show will really take off for next year, with only a few small changes in order!
