Marshall ~ Email Ray Watters at dlhrww@charter.net
circletrackParticipantMany of the bigger shows have “attempted” to make stops in Madison but Madison in general is NOT a car friendly town and that was obvious to many at prior events. I wonder what the Klassic Kruisers would think if others offered to help them out? I can’t imagine they’d turn away offers?!
circletrackParticipantThe Road Apples Car Club had a website ~ http://www.roadapples.org but late last summer some idiot decided to infect the website and rather than trying to clean it up we just decided to start fresh. Any suggestions on where I should start? Am I in the right spot?
circletrackParticipantA side note to them not giving out trophies this year…. Last year the Road Apples won the majority of the trophies, but we did have almost 40 cars in attendance. I know a few of the members and there were many complaints on the club winning so many trophies… So, along with the advanced ages of the members, among other problems some of them have ~ the decision not to give trophies was decided. I don’t know what they have planned for 2006, getting a trophy really isn’t a big deal to me, but it obviously is to others. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know. Personally, I would like to see another club/organization take over this show, or at least HELP the Klassic Kruisers out. This show has been around for many years, has a great location and lots of potential.
circletrackParticipantThanks guys… Just a little side note ~ he is a she! wave.gif
circletrackParticipantNever fear, I get those emails also along with many others advertising just about anything I might ever need ~ NOT! I usually delete them, I used to report them to Ebay and Paypal, but didn’t think they were getting much attention. It’s amazing how big that delete key can become, LOL! I also invested in a good spam killer, I use Qurb, it takes most of them away before I ever see them.
November 6, 2005 at 4:56 pm in reply to: What do you do for winter storage of your collector cars? #20307circletrackParticipantWe have an exposed basement with French Doors that lead outside… The Chevelle came inside a couple weeks back and will sit quietly waiting for spring… This way I can go visit in January and remember how HOT it was this summer! sunny.gif
circletrackParticipantI need to find a car cover for the Mustang, won’t be driving it this winter (obviously) and it’ll probably have to “rest” outside so the other projects can be inside. I have no idea where to look and want something decent. I should start looking… We bought one for the Chevelle a couple years back and that served us well, it’s never fun to cover ’em up!
circletrackParticipantSeems like a big MESS to me. I don’t think the City of Madison does any good constantly talking about this event and what went wrong. I went years ago and it was fun seeing all the costumes and listening to the bands. I’m pretty sure there aren’t bands anymore and it’s not sponsored by anyone in particular. I can’t imagine the fun in walking down State Street with 80-100,000+ people I’ve never met before, but obviously it’s a good time or wouldn’t continue to happen. By the paper today and the online articles I’ve read, things did not go well again. I doubt Mayor Dave and/or the city can do anything to prevent this, lord knows they tried.
circletrackParticipantI was late finding this page, but I’ve learned lots in the short time I’ve been here! You’re all very welcoming and even though I’ve never met you face to face (yet), you’re familiar with my car and have been at the same shows. This year was lots of fun getting out and I’m anticipating 2006 to be even better.
Didn’t get out to Quaker Steak this afternoon, I had an event with my kids. The weather turned cruddy quickly and it’s dark very fast now too, bummer!
circletrackParticipantMarshall ~ I tell you what…. I know you’re well aware I’m a Road Apple and we have a new committee this year. We will be meeting in the next week or so to discuss our plans for next year. If you can give me more information I’d be more than happy to share it with the other members. One of our members tried to have a car show in Mt. Horeb this fall at Culver’s and it worked out fairly well, but with even more work/effort it could’ve been much better. Either send me an email or let me know if you’d like my phone number and we’ll talk. I’d love to help this guy get his business off the ground and if the club can help, I’m all for it. thumbsup.gif
circletrackParticipantHey Marshall… No the Road Apples has never done a show. Some have suggested it, but I always worry that the same group of people will do all the work, or you’ll have some that will agree to help and won’t. I’m not sure where Spring Green is, how far from Madison? Rob sounds like a great guy, we need more of those!
circletrackParticipantYahoo! What’s the weather report?
circletrackParticipantToo funny! I can’t imagine that can be street driven?! I bet the guy has a good time with it. Wonder what his reserve was?
Do you ever ponder what people are thinking when they do something like this? Hmmm….. blob8.gif
circletrackParticipantPut the Chevelle in storage on Friday, not a good feeling… crybaby2.gif Luckily we just put it in our exposed basement and I can still visit now and then. We have some work to do this winter but waking up to days like this reminds me of the LONG winter days we have ahead. I don’t mind the winter as much as I do the dark days that go with it! I’m also a big racing fan and that’s going to end soon also (the local stuff did a few weeks back).
29th Annual spring Jefferson is scheduled for April 29 – 30, 2006. That’s not that far off, right! w00t.gif I’m pretty sure that’s one of the first shows of the year other than World of Wheels that’s held in January in Milwaukee.
