Eclipse_TunerParticipant
Hell yeah, a cruise night there would be cool.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI agree with that 100%. I live in Columbus and we have more snow than Madison, yet Madison’s main roads are much worse than ours….it doesnt make any sense.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI have no sympathy for the Big 3. They dug their own graves by refusing to adapt to the times, by becoming too bogged down with the UAW, and by simply not innovating.
They are plain and simply not producing competitive goods. And whats just as harmful to them is that now they have a steep negative stigma against their products.
Inability to adapt=death sentance. They were given a chance in the early 80’s and they totally blew it.
If our country is really a free market society, then the automakers should fail and restructure under bankruptcy…and the same goes for the banks, etc.
What people seem to not realize is that we are now in a GLOBAL economy, where our products must compete against others from around the world. And if the products from the US fall short compared to others from other parts of the world, then the US companies need to step it up or go out of business.
In short, “Country of Origin” carries very little weight.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI agree…Nascar has become a victim of itself. It lost touch with what made it successful.
And the COT is an absolute joke. You can tell that it was designed 7 years ago…its design hasnt kept up with the times, it looks and is stale. It was outdated before it even hit the track.
whats funny is how similar its problems are to the Detroit Big 3. And also the causes.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThis is the one reason why I’ve never been a big fan of the huge national organizations, Goodguys being one of them. Its like they get to be so big that it becomes more about the revenue than the hobby.
They forget that its because of us in the hobby that they have an organization.
Take Nopi for instance…they grew their events so fast and so big that they completely lost thier attendee base by ignoring their wants/needs.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI was at that show too. It certainly wasnt very tactful. It also undermines the meaning of the award and the show itself.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantApparently I have a bad headgasket and waterpump…so Ill be pulling the heads off the Eclipse. And since Im in there Ill be upgrading the cams and valve train.
Also doing some new carbon fiber work for it.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI would have to say the Beaver Dam Swan City show is my favorite. Its a great setting, good judging and class breakdowns, and usually has a huge number of cars.
The HOH show is a close second…The class organization and parking is good, the location is good, and the judging is good.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantit would be a great show if they just did concourse judging…with the organization’s club cars show only. Not to mention the annoying little things.
Even though I managed to get a trophey, overall its becoming a half-assed attempt at putting on a show.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantSpecific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – B+
Parking Location – B+
Class Organization – B…average/typical breakdown
Trophies & Prizes – B weak door prizes…2 trophies per class
Food – A…”taste of Mayville” all the resturaunts were there
Entertainment – B DJ, fairly good mix
Judging – F Participant vote, but vote only in you class….makes for very biased ballots.
Dash Plaque – B
Variety of Cars – B broad mix of good quality cars
Bathrooms – B building and portas
Weather – A
Trophy Presentation Timing – A short and quick
Entry Fee – B- $10
Overall Rating:put overall rating here C…The way they did participant vote was just terrible. It really then becomes a “who you know” type of event. The lack of trash cans was also annoying.
Its becoming pretty clear why the attendance for this show is dropping each year. Its a shame because its a good time of the year, and in conjunction with the festival. Its just run poorly.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantyeah, the judging is pretty bad, although its a new format this year (you only judge the cars in your class)…which should be interesting. The setting and the little fall festival is really cool though.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantdoes anyone have any info on the Edgerton show?
Eclipse_TunerParticipantunfortunatly i dont have a flyer of the classes. there were about 52 classes total. From Madison, its about a 1.5h drive.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantNo, I havent been to the show before, I too am wondering what that show is like.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantPaul,
I dont know if you go to a lot of shows or not, so bare with me on this one….I beleive the show was a “one trophey per car” rule, which would explain why you one for best of, and not in your class. As for judging in general, its not always how clean the car is (although that is a big factor), depending on the category, the judge also takes into account the quality of the installs, mods, custom painting, etc. Just because its a marquee car doesnt necessarily mean its a show winner…take this scenario as an example: Lets say there is a class called Mustangs stock, all years…and there is a 2008 Foose Mustang and a fully numbers matching 1968 Mustang Fastback that was fully restored…The 1968 gets the win because there was work involved, whereas the 2008 is fresh from the show room. Now, Im by no means trying to defend the judging this past weekend, cuz there were a lot of questionable issues. Im just offering my perspective on judging in general.
