Nice looking Charger. They were always a tough looking car. Certainly in the top five muscle cars.

The Charger Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird were interesting vehicles. They were made to compete on the super-speedways. But they actually were too fast, speeds were pushing past 200 mph and Nascar decided to slow it down, so they banned the wings. Daytona’s and Superbirds didn’t sell well when they came out, probably too radical for the buying public. If they only knew then what we know now.

Just look at what the Chargers were going for at Barrett-Jackson this year! :banghead:

Well I’m heavy into Stargate SG-1. Last month I attended my first Sci-Fi convention in Dallas devoted to SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. I didn’t think I would have fun but after meeting up with some folks on a sci-fi messageboard I frequent we had a great time. I also got the opportunity to meet and chat awhile with Teryl Rotheary (Dr. Janet Frasier) and Don S. Davis (Gen. Hammond) of Stargate SG-1. Both are good people and very cordial, not to mention I got an autograph photo of Teryl out of the deal. :D

Another show that has gauged my interest as of late is modern interpretation of Battlestar Galactica. I don’t get caught up in the debate as to which version was better, the late 70’s or the new version. In my opinion both are great shows and it’s simply a different that each team of producers are exploring. Let’s not forget that Grace Park (Boomer in the new version) is in this month’s issue of Maxim magazine. 😉

There’s always a place in my heart for the Star Trek franchise and I hope Spike TV decides to pick up Enterprise as word of this is starting to catch wind. If it doesn’t I don’t mind seeing the Star Trek franchise take a break for a year or two. I feel that Paramount has been milking the cow way too long and you know how overexposure or overkill can hurt a TV show. Who knows, Sci-Fi may pull a fast one and pickup the show. Stranger things have happened.

Great to hear, we have alot of common interests! I love SG-1, its such a great show! The storylines are really endless, and I am so impressed how its going on for 9 years now! 😯 That in and of itself shows how good the show is, considering that its the longest running scifi show besides the X-Files (in the US anyway). Atlantis is great too, it was cool to see Colm Meany guest star a couple times. That must have been so great to actually meet Teryl Rotheary and Don S. Davis! 8) 8) I’d love to be able to do that! They along with the rest of the cast of SG-1 sound like friendly easy going people, especially RDA.

I too have gotten into the new Battlestar. Its a very different show, more dark but at the same time it has a unique style. Good stuff.

I’ve been a big star trek fan for a long time now, I didn’t really get into Enterprise a whole let (watched about 1/3 of the series). I hope it isn’t cancelled for good but on the bright side if it is maybe that will give them a chance to start anew. I hear JMS (creator of Babylon 5) has a new star trek treatment that would revitalize the series.

Have you ever watched Babylon 5 or Farscape? Both are great shows, Babylon 5 has to be one of the most intricately written shows I’ve ever seen, and the ending is very moving. Farscape is so well designed and thought out, mixing humor with raw power.

I saw the Charger in Fast and the Furious a couple weeks ago at the Volo Auto museum north of Chicago. All the cars there are for sale also. A big variety of cars for sale.

Oh, I wish you hadn’t told me that 😯 :sad1:

    :D

Also at Volo they had the Ford Torino used in the new Starsky and Hutch, a very nice car. :blob6: I also liked the 57 tbird in the new movie Be Cool, it was nice to see them in the tbird, so much style. :toothy7:

Ahhh yes. The Cobra avatar from a little over a year ago 8) I like your current one much better though :D (Ummm. since you have no avatar here, obviously I mean at Convopit) :D

haha 😆 😆 Cobra, you’ll have to setup an avatar here…. maybe a gif animation of your new Nissan!

Ahh thank you. The list of modifications both internal and external is long and deep and as with all car buffs I feel I have a long way to go. This has been done off the top of my head.

    Motor & Drivetrain

    Steeda underdrive pulleys
    Steeda timing adjuster
    MAC cold air intake
    Accufab upper intake & throttlebody
    Ford Motorsport shorty headers
    Bassani X-pipe
    DynoMax Ultraflow catback exhaust
    Mosher 31 spline axles
    Ford Motorsport 3.73 gears
    Autologic performance chip

    Suspension

    Steeda sport springs
    Tokico Shocks & Struts
    Ford Motorsport subframe connectors

    Appearance

    Saleen Bodykit & 18″ wheels
Carbon fiber & stainless steel accents in the interior
    white face gauges

I have another engine block in the garage for my next project which is to have it bored, stoked and beefed up to make around 400 horsepower. Then the fun starts with the Vortech supercharger.

Very nice! 😯 A truely excetional car. I agree, its a good idea to upgrade the stock tranny with the rest of the modifications or you could run into problems later on. Great car though.

I agree about the new Mustang, it has style and really brings back the feel of the old Mustangs. The new GTO also has style that we haven’t seen in recent years. Plus the Steve McQueen commercial was great!

Most people miss the messages in the Star Trek shows. The classic Star Trek had so many episodes with a moral to the story. The great part about them is that the messages are still true today.

I remember the one with the 2 guys with black and white faces, but one had the white on the opposite side so he was supposed to be inferior. Very powerful messages!

You mean hypothetically? If Ford were to start a new version, I think it would be another mistake. They did a pretty good job, retro-styling-wise, on the recent one but priced it out of the market (dealers guilty, too). There are too many good/better value cars to choose from these days.

I see what you mean. Basically the tbird has had a good run but they should let it go now.

I do have licence plates, but I removed them craftily in PhotoShop. Also removed a load of detail from the house – that brick wall isn’t all it seems…

I get 45-50mpg in my Almera. Not bad for a 1.5!

Would like to get this for it, though:

I am not a boy racer (hate them) but I like this, and it’s a little touch that would be pretty cool in my opinion. Maybe for the dashboard? 😆

haha 😆 😆 That would be pretty funny!
    Go for it!

I don’t know how many have seen shows like The Invaders, Outer Limits, Night Gallery, Twilight Zone. They were like the first wave of sci-fi type shows.

And of course the classic star trek series. Good old Kirk, Spock, And McCoy.

Nice car, should get good mileage. As prices keep going higher people will have to start thinking about fuel mileage. Around here it just hit $2.05/gallon for regular unleaded, mid-grade is 2.15 and premium about 2.25.

And it shows no signs of stopping, should be $2.50 by the end of the summer. A hybrid would be really nice about now! :D

I just wanted to start a topic where everyone could post their own tips and tricks for restoration. Some simple things can really save alot of time if you know about them ahead of time.

One tip I have is be sure of what your doing, don’t just assume things. For instance, while helping BIG BLOCK restore the interior of his 71 cutlass we discovered an interesting problem, the perferated holes for the window handles on the rear panels were in the wrong spot. So in other words take it slow and make sure everything lines up.

I think one of the reasons for the door panel problem in the Cutlass is that the manufacturer just recently came out with the product. When we restored the interior of my GTO the panels fit perfect. But they had been producing them for years. So pre-measuring can save meny headaches.

    Well said!

2000 (W reg) Nissan Almera E in “Tornado Grey” (read: green). 1.5l four cylinder in-line. No modifications, just taken care of and serviced regularly. 0-62 in 13.8 secs, top speed 109mph. Comfortable inside, and one hell of a car for a student to own – not many people driving something that new, shiny, reliable… :)

The history of the car? Well, I came home one summer night when it was just twilight. Long, hard shift at Sainsbury’s – I was 15 or 16 at the time. Looking forward to a barbeque that night. Arrived and saw that car in the drive and saw it. I hated the colour, but it grew on me. Parents had bought it new from Nissan. I never thought that I’d end up owning it!

I started driving it a year and a half ago when I lost the use of my father’s company car. 10 days ago, I bought it from my parents for £2,800 – they were buying a new Primera. It had 48,000 miles on the clock.

    That’s the history.

Wow! Very nice of your parents to buy a new car for you!
