In the ’68 GTO it had a complete valve job last summer, sorry I don’t know the details. There was a distributer problem in that it was frozen in one position. I know that was a big problem in trying to fine tune the car. I think I could probably run on 92 octane but it sure likes the 110. When I bought the car I was told it had a rebuilt engine with hardened seats. I found out last summer the seats weren’t hardened and that it needed a valve job. When they had rebuilt the engine they used a mish-mash of parts. I had alot of fun with it for 4.5 years before it needed that, so that’s not too bad.

The other is a ’69 Plymouth GTX. Its got a 440 with a 6-pack, 4 speed. The 3 carbs have been rebuilt and on and off about 10 times to get them to where they should be. Started it last weekend and the rear carb drips a little gas from around the bowl, hopefully that will take care of itself, otherwise we will be buying a new bowl.

I’ll take the money. I already have the car and it would let me restore it without worrying about MONEY. The car? 70 Monte Carlo SS.

The ’70 Monte Carlo was a nice car. You don’t see many at shows. I think they are really starting to take off.

Yes they just dropped the Spring Waukesha show. I believe Gary Esse said that they will have use of the high school grounds next door to where Elkhorn takes place. They are excited about expanding to two days. That is actually a better setting for a show than Jefferson. I think it is better organized.

I just know my cars run better with more power when I run some racing fuel through them. Unfortunately I don’t have the expertise to fine tune my cars.

    Hello Mopardude

    Welcome.
There are a number of us here from the Madison/Southern Wisconsin area.
The site has only been up for a couple of weeks now, but is starting to take shape. Madison, Racine and now Elkhorn are represented. Your site looks great.

What was that big ugly car in the movie Cobra?

If I remember correctly it may have been around a ’50 Mercury. It needed a paint job, didn’t it?

I think Columbo drove an old Toyota.

Robert Urich drove a ’57 T-bird in Vegas.

Been going to shows and swap meets longer than I want to admit. I was going to Iola back when you could walk it all in a couple of hours. Been playing with cars for more than 30 years. Anyone wanting to talk Kaiser-Frazer or first generation Monte Carlo, feel free to contact me.

Iola certainly has grown over the years. Now it takes the whole weekend to see it. They always have some beautiful vehicles on display. And you can find just about anything in the swap meet. Over the years we have seen some very interesting deals in the car corral. You definately have to watch what your buying though.

I’ll add Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry and The French Connection.

Both great movies. The end of Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry was cool, so close to getting away. French Connection had some classic chases, I kind of felt sorry for the car that Hackman was driving.

Another movie was Ronin with Robert DeNiro.

Well that’s a first. It was a slightly reworked 389 Pontiac and had nothing in common with a Chevy engine. The starter isn’t even on the same side of the block. Chevrolet did have a 400ci version of the small block that started out as 265ci. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Drogar-Thinking(LBG).gif

That’s what I thought. You wonder where people get their knowledge. I believe the Chevy 402 was a slightly bored 396.

Was Dennis Hopper the good guy in Duel?

    Carrie

Cannonball Run, The Semis’s were featured there, weren’t they?

My favorite movie, Christine, not my favorite car, a 1958 Plymouth Fury.

Dennis Weaver was the good guy in Duel. Christine was a great movie, the car from the movie (at least one of them) is at the Volo Auto Museum.

I am not sure if The Semi’s were in Cannonball Run, that was a good movie.

@GTO Man: what is the name of the stuff that you use on your chrome that has such great results? I’m drawing a blank right now…

I know what your talking about but I can’t think of the name. We have seen it at swap meets but they do sell it locally I understand. It is great for chrome, the dashboard plastic, and is recommended for Corvettes. A friend has a ’87 and a 2000 Corvette and he will use this stuff on it. But he won’t use a California duster on his Corvette’s. I will find the name tomorrow and post it.
