I would say the show has become pretty bastardized after combining 2 organization commitees.
While the idea of having the main awards at the park is novel, it logistically does not work. Especially if another fee to the car show attendees is in place. Keep it simple.
I show all over the state, and the one thing that noticably ruins car shows are commitees that make the car owners/show-ers jump through hoops.
10-12 is average to attend a car show, but passengers ALWAYS get in free. Even premier shows like Hot Import Nights allow the passengers in with a registered vehicle.
If things arent resolved, be prepared for a very low turn-out this year and next year, as the car show circle is a pretty tightly knit group and news travels fast.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantjust a quick addition…Ending the show at 2:30/3:00 was a great idea. It wasnt too long, but it gave enough time for everyone to see everything.
i wish more shows ended early like that
Eclipse_TunerParticipantSpecific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – Simple location, but could use better sign placement.
Parking Location – For participant choice judging style, you need to keep cars separated by class.
Class Organization – Pretty good. I would suggest separating Imports into Imports Stock and Imports Modified.
Trophies & Prizes – Pretty good. They should have made it a bit more clear that you had to buy tickets for the big goodies.
Food – Arbys
Entertainment – Good music selection played through a simple PA system. needed to be turned up for announcements, and needed a speaker or 2 facing the paved lot.
Judging – Participant judging ~ people either love or hate…Im not a fan, but it works for a first-time show….Perhaps we all could help them out by volunteering as judges.
Dash Plaque – None
Variety of Cars – Pretty good for a first time show.
Bathrooms – Inside and clean!
Weather – Perfect.
Trophy Presentation Timing – They were about 30 minutes late in judging, which is understandable for a first show. The inflatable “sargeant” entertained the crowd.
Entry Fee – $5!!!!!!!!!! Freaking Fantastic!
Overall Rating: B/B-Eclipse_TunerParticipantill probably be hitting up the armory as well.
at least this weekend’s weather looks better than last sunday…I froze my ass off at the Portage show.Eclipse_TunerParticipanthmm, hurray for 2 sites with 2 different dates. even the guy at the energy center was unsure of the details.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI thought that pick-up was terribly terribly done. Granted the patriotic theme was nice, but it was poorly executed. The clear was done well, but the artwork was just terrible.
Thats one thing that annoys me…people judge paint on subject matter, not quality, and just because its a veterans theme, they get all warm and fuzzy. The truck wasnt even detailed decently…the interior and engine bay were pretty filthy.

Overall Rating:put overall rating here BIt was a good show, good quality rides, but the number was definatly low compared to years past. Only 200 cars there when the show usually brings 500.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantNevermind, I just called Bill (the guy in charge of the car show in Beaver Dam). The car show is still set for this Sunday. Repeat: IT IS NOT CANCELLED, the park is good to go.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI didnt go last year, but my wife showed my car that day.
I would be terribly terribly bummed out if the Beaver Dam show is cancelled. Any updates?
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThe chalmers show is a “Recommended” $20 to enter…you can pretty much pay whatever you want…its a donation to their charity cause.
Swan City car show for me on sunday…I love that show. Hopefully the park isnt too wet.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantAnd Im bummed that the Angell Park show in Sun Prairie is no more.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThe HOH show is still scheduled for July 26th.
They are still in business, although things have been pretty low key for the past few months due to that massive robbery of all their equipment. The insurance company was causing major hold-ups, but they are still there and looking forward to another good show at the vfw.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantgot the new fuel system dialed in and took it out for a ride….then parked it to do some more carbon work.
Eclipse_TunerParticipanthopefully its a better turn-out this year…although it was fun taking the cars out on the track
March 21, 2008 at 5:25 pm in reply to: Here’s another scheduling conflict that I have noticed… #31906Eclipse_TunerParticipantafter last year’s experience at fox lake, I have no interest in attending it…unless they get some qualified judges
