I think it was Clinton. Yeah “let’s sign NAFTA and allow jobs to move off-shore without penalties” great idea jerk-off.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:Rusty’s was suppose to close about two years ago last I heard but stayed open. Maybe that buyer then fell threw.A gas station was supposed to go in there but had trouble getting a permit for the tanks.
jonmandudeParticipantThis is great news. I really miss the grape slushes from Sonic. Their food is decent, good hot dogs. Never really had much else from Sonic. I don’t recall them ever having a cruise in at any of the Texas Sonics, but we can always approach them right? It sounds like a perfect idea, with the old time drive in feel. Heck the ones in Texas even had car hops on roller skates.
Now we just need a Whataburger and I will be happy.
jonmandudeParticipantYou know guys, I love this site. You are always open and about the members. The information here is top-notch. I would like to see less favoritism to some cruises, but I do understand that the bills must be paid.
jonmandudeParticipantWhen I sold the Challenger, I went thru ebay with great results. I had a few tire kickers call. The way I dealt with them is by telling them I would not end the bidding on ebay early and suggested that if they want the car they should place their bid on ebay and wished them luck. When they asked to look at it I said again bid on ebay and if you win you can look at it every day in your garage. I found that you don’t have to deal with them. The beauty of ebay is that the tire kickers just want to talk you down because they all know that someone else will bid on ebay for more than they are willing to pay.
Place you car on ebay, start it at a decent starting bid of say $10K, that will keep the cheapos from bidding a dollar. Then have a reserve of what you will take no less than, that will ensure that you don’t sell for less than you are willing to accept. DO NOT put a “buy it now” price, a friend did that and ended up selling his ’75 Corvette in five minutes. While that sounds great, he could have gotten more if he let the bidding go. Put it in a 10 day time frame and let it go the whole 10 days. Tell people that you will not end the bidding early. By letting the bidding go you will get the maximum for the car. Don’t be disappointed when nothing happens until day 10, that is just how it works.
jonmandudeParticipantI am a huge fan of the 60’s Impala’s. My second car was a 63 Impala Sport Coupe (same body as SS). I used to know everything in and out of that car. If you end up getting one and want some help, let me know.

they should move it to Thursday to compete with the Lube and not Culvers
jonmandudeParticipantPete works at Benchmark now?
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:My only complaint, or question was about what does Good Guys look for? I’m a young looking 34, most think I am in my early 20’s. I didn’t dress the car type on Sunday so I looked like a regular lookie-loo. I was at the Good Guys tent and the people there where throwing books, ads, and magazines at all the old guys with car clothes on. I stood there for a few moments, small talked with one lady and she didn’t even offer up anything. I asked a few questions about Good Guys and again, no offer. There was a sign up there but I got the feeling walking away that they didn’t want young bucks around.I brushed it aside but it still seemed odd to me.
I became involved with the Good Guys last year doing the show at the Lube. I got the same feeling that the Good Guys really wants to be an exclusive group, only for the older people with lots of money. They originally wanted it to be only about rods years ago, but thru pressure to make the show grow (probably to make more money) they extended the model year acceptance up to 1972. I was barely able to attend last year with a 72 Challenger, if I had a 73 or 74 (same car as 72) I would have been excluded. I do not attend shows that exclude people any more. I will not even attend as a spectator. To me it sends the wrong message to young enthusiasts. It makes them feel just like you did, that they are not really wanted. We all share the same passion for cars, we may have different tastes and different monetary abilities, but the love is the same. Besides, variety is a great thing.
jonmandudeParticipantIs there any more news on this event? I checked the links and…nothing. I had heard it was the same people who do the Appleton “Drop Fest” which was rained out this year.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:Yeah, Why have 2 bike nights in the madison area on the same day? You would think they might flip with QSL; so cars on wed and bikes on Thursday….Why not. It’s smart business. If I wanted to compete in a market, I would try to use what someone else has proved works. People develop patterns in their lives, They set aside certain days for certain things. Obviously people have got into the habit of going to a Bike night on Wednesdays. Why should one business have the monopoly on that day?
jonmandudeParticipantBy “two red trucks” was that the really nice guy whose name starts with an H?
Wow, that is a horrible story. I definitely will not go there if that is how they were treated. I never really mind the kids not understanding that these are not their Hot Wheels cars and they should be more careful. They simply don’t know better and the fault lies with the parents. But adults, that is another story. They should understand the amount of money (and love) we all put into our prized babies. To top it off with being confrontational? A two-by-four to the face would not be out of line.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:We had a couple of rods come thru here late last night from Nebraska. The nut for one guys oil psi sensor had come off, so I hooked him up with a nut and washer, and an extra quart of oil for the trip “just in case” as he told me he was using this trip for his break-in miles :banana:When the guy asked me what he owed and I told him it was on the house, I thought he was gonna fall over. I explained to him that being a car guy myself, I’ve been in his shoes on more than one occasion.
He told me to look him up at the show, he’d buy me a beer thumbsup.gif
More people need to get back to this way of thinking, helping each other out. Much of the problems in this world is that everything has gone to the almighty dollar being what is most important, milk every dollar you can grab. People are more important, and being human.
Nice job zac. thumbsup.gif
jonmandudeParticipantOf course the government (you know the one owned by the oil companies) could start to go after these oil companies when they say they have to sell oil at these prices to stay in business but then produce record quarterly profits.
jonmandudeParticipantI wonder if every day that Favre puts that Jets jersey on and looks in the mirror doe sit it feel like a mistake or just odd?
lilwillie is right, he didn’t look comfortable or happy in his press conference. He looked like he was going thru the motions and his heart wasn’t in it. I wonder if he will also play that way. His strength is always how he plays with heart.
I have two more words on this subject…Madden Curse
