See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

The author of that article makes very good points. I do think the media needs to report the issues more and quit worrying about Britney Spears’ kids.

This guy who wrote this must drive a pickup truck everyday like me w00t.gif

Craigslist is a good place to sell inexpensive stuff, but I don’t know how many expensive car sales are made via that website. I use it to advertise cars that I sell, and have had inquiries but no sales. It’s free to advertise also, and I think that has a lot to do with it.

The Monroe Balloonfest Car Show in Monroe, WI is also on this same date.

I got a flyer for this the other day, $13 day of show or $11 if you pre-reg. I’ve been to this show for a few years, it’s a good show but I’m not sure it’s $13 good if ya know what I mean…

    I’ll still go.

Hey moparkid25, where are you and ddhemi staying in Rochester? And when are you going down to Ames?

We are going to Ames on Weds the 11th. Our plan is to drive down there while everyone else is driving up from St. Louis. I had to get a motel room a couple miles away from ISU because everything was already booked up. Up in Rochester I got closer to the community college and are staying at a place with underground parking. I’ll have to look up the name of the joint.

I have updated information on this subject, please SEE THIS POST.

Thanks for the clarification, and going the extra mile to make room for everyone.

As I’ve stated before, I didn’t approve of the situation last fall. I didn’t approve of stever51878 attacking Jon here when he didn’t know what he was talking about. Jon made QSL a spot for car people. It’s too bad he’s no longer there, but I’ve got a feeling we will see him organizing or helping out with another show/cruise night in the future months…He’s a car guy who likes what he did. *Jon, this is the peptalk where I tell you to create your own latest and greatest thing, and if you need help all you have to do is ask myself and many others, and I’m sure they would be more than happy to help you out!*

I’m curious to see what Benchmark Classics has to offer the local car scene. I may have to go back against my word and attend a QSL on there night. I’m also curious to see what Blue Chip has new for ’08.

Anyhoo, only 7 weeks to the Dells thumbsup.gif

Thanks, moparkid25, for the info on Lancaster. That show is certainly a possibility, although a bit far.

The May 13th Show posted by GTO Man is probably not the show I have been hearing about.

Speaking of car shows, I have friends up in Reedsburg who are in law enforcement and we were talking about the upcoming Automotion 2008. Even though both of my friends in Reedsburg are “ole car guys” and have collector cars that they show, neither will be able to participate in Automotion 2008, as both have been detailed and assigned that weekend to Wisconsin Dells to assist the Dells PD and will be working all weekend.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and one of them will be the cop that writes you your disorderly conduct/reckless driving ticket while doing a burnout? Drogar-Laugh(LBG).gif

During Automotion, they have police officers from Wi Dells, Lake Delton, Reedsburg, Baraboo, and the Sauk County Sheriffs Dept along with the WI State Patrol. Yet all hell seems to break loose somewhere dontknow.gif

I did get a flyer for a car show in Lancaster on June 21. I didn’t go last year but attended the year before. Lancaster is a nice town and they put on a nice show thumbsup.gif

There are a few places that charge fair rates. Do an internet search for classic auto transportation and it will give you the names of a few transporters like Muscle Car Transport, etc.

I used a company to ship my ’68 to San Fran, they were out of Tennessee and the name was Silver Bullet Relocators. I don’t know if there in business anymore, but they came with new equipment (Trailer, Rig, straps) and were very personable to deal with.

I would have to agree with circletrack, late august/september make for nice weather and good shows.

I bought some racing fuel yesterday, it was 5.60 per gallon. Z-Oil in Verona, once they are out of their current supply of racing fuel won’t be selling it anymore.

That sucks, Zurbachen’s is the closest place for me to get the stuff. There’s a place called Moore’s Towing near my Grandma’s house, they are located at the intersection where Mineral Point Rd. turns into Speedway and across from Glenway Golf Course. I’ve bought some there before and there pretty decent to deal with. If you buy a drum they will knock a few cents off per gallon also.
