Looks like the Blackhawk sold for $475,000. B-J must have used the above photo in their pre-sale marketing of the car. ;)

You can find out more about the Blackhawk here if you’re interested…

It’s sad to see that GM is forced to sell some of their history.

Does anyone remember the old “Dog ‘n Suds” drive-in that was located on University Avenue just down from where the new Sonic will be? I think it was where the Brennan’s store is now. Too bad a place like that didn’t survive… it would have been a great cruise-in spot today!

I hope Benchmark is doing well, and based on your comments it appears that they are. With the difficult economy I would have imagined that their business is struggling. When my 64 is finished this spring I will definitely check into their storage services…

All I can say is you picked an “interesting” choice for your youtube example Garibaldi. I like the technology upgrade, but WOW – that video is really something…

I’m gonna end up being in the minority on this, but I like this car. I am going through a phase where full customs, California customs, lowriders, and hydro cars are catching my attention.

I like this one for what it is – a customized street rod.

    Marshall

I’ve got no problem with customs, and can appreciate them for their originality and individual beauty. My only complaint with the car would be changing the 409 4-speed, because of the rarity of this set-up. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

    Very cool HDR photo Garibaldi!

Wow! I don’t know much about Chevys, but why would anyone screw up an original 409 4-speed car with a 350? dontknow.gif Seems pretty stupid to me… Not trying to be a hater, to each their own I guess…

    Marshall:

What I did for Ed was place some “for sale” posts on several Buick specific forums. I personally spend more time on those sites than I do here, because the members are all into the same type of car that I am. Do a google search for “ford mustang forums” and you will find many. You are probably already a member on one of these sites, but if you’re not just join. In fact, join several. It’s free, and you will be able to target a very specific market – guys (or gals) who love Mustangs! Definitely upload many pictures to your post, or include a link to an album of photos on one of the photo hosting sites. Better yet, take Amigo2k up on his offer to do a web page for you. Pictures is what will sell your car over the internet.

Next, put an ad on Craigslist that also includes photos. It’s another free way to market your car online. I wouldn’t bother with the Madison Craigslist, a better choice would be Chicago. Bigger market, and more hits on your ad. I posted Ed’s car on the Milwaukee Craigslist.

Lastly, I have to agree with moparkid25 and suggest eBay as probably the best option. It costs a little money, but you will get the most exposure for your car there. A run on eBay will really let you know if people are willing to pay $27k for a very nicely restored Mustang. Good luck!

I am looking for something bigger, like a full sized car, but it’s gotta be a convertible. I like the Buick Skylark’s as well…

    Marshall

I like where you’re going with this Marshall, I think it’s time for you to step up to a Buick. The Skylark is a nice model, but would be tough to classify as “full sized.” One of my personal favorites (outside of Riviera’s of course) is the 1964 Buick Electra 225 convertible. Plenty of room for the whole family and nothing but class. Not a muscle car (which is maybe more of your taste), but you will not see another one at the local shows or cruise-ins!

Sorry, but this one’s owned by GM and part of their “Heritage Collection.” Buick also made a limited number of these cars with low back front bucket seats and a console shift. Talk about cool! You can’t go wrong with a classic deuce & a quarter imho…

    Marshall,

Let me know if I can do anything to help you out.

Sounds like a cashiers check for 27 large would help him out Zac. If it was only a Mopar…

    Specific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – A, signage directing cars from Highway 12 was just fine
Parking Location – A, great downtown setting with plenty of space between vehicles
Class Organization – F, no parking by classes just first come first serve
Trophies & Prizes – B, nice class trophies and door prizes were given
Food – B+, Several tables selling brats, hot dogs, etc. Most of the downtown eating establishments were also open – a nice variety
Entertainment – B-, 3-D Sound DJ – like most of ’em he got annoying
Judging – F, participant judging – not my favorite. Probably the one thing that will make me think twice about going back next year
Dash Plaque – Yep, I got one
    Variety of Cars – A, a very nice mix – maybe 200?
Bathrooms – F, no porta-potties anywhere, had to go into a local business
Weather – A, sunny & warm but not sweltering hot – a beautiful day
Trophy Presentation Timing – A, on-time and moved right along
Entry Fee – A, $5 is a bargain – even if it was participant judging
    Overall Rating:B+

In my view the only thing keeping this show from an “A” rating would be the participant judging, parking willy/nilly and lack of toilets. I just prefer a judged show, so perhaps this is not a fair criticism. It’s hard to do participant judging when nothing is parked in a class. Congratulations to circletrack on her class win (which was well deserved) and for accepting the club participation award. The best-of-show stock and modified winners were also well deserved. With the beautiful weather this was a very enjoyable day to spend at a car show.
