As a Republican, I am glad the Bush era is over. However, I’m not sold on Obama whatsoever, and I’m not sure whats in store for the next for years. I do not agree with the “spread the wealth” and “pay more taxes if you make over 250K a year” plans.
I never got a job from a poor person.
moparkid25ParticipantQuote:I heard that weeks ago and was thrilled at the news! I’ve never eaten at one, but love their commercials and can’t wait to try it out.I was surprised Rusty’s closed down though, I always thought that was a popular place to be.
I’d like to see more of these restaurants on the east side… I suppose in time I will.
I ate at a Sonic quite a few years ago when I was in Oklahoma. I don’t really remember how the food was, but they are very popular out that way.
I didn’t even know Rusty’s closed, where am I gonna get a .25 Old Style tap beer now?! Every time I go there I remember the story my dad told me about his trip to Rusty’s when he was in college… jumpy.gif

I agree, just because the price has come down doesn’t mean everyone needs to go out and cruise there SUV’s. I know I have been enjoying the falling prices since I drive a truck, and I’m on the road a lot, but I’m still cutting my driving down where I can.
moparkid25ParticipantQuote:And to me that’s insulting… We all put so much time and energy into our cars it’s frustrating to have someone buy it just to resell for a couple grand more. I’ll never forget a few years back Steve had a 68 Nova he’d restored. We had it at Jefferson with some outrageous price on it. We got an offer we couldn’t refuse and Steve let the guy know he did the work himself. I don’t think it was 2 weeks later it was advertised on carsonline for sale… Never again.Ya know, I’ve been known to this a time or two…..
moparkid25ParticipantI would have to say the worst thing I saw was in Monroe, when the thespians’ tent over there table got caught by the wind and hit some guys SSR truck.
moparkid25ParticipantOoh, I don’t know how well that would go over with a younger (and by younger I mean 16-40 year olds) crowd. I know its nothing that would interest me, but I like the kind of music that comes from performers who breathe fire, spit blood, bite the heads off of bats, etc. thumbsup.gif
I know that I’m not the only one who agree’s Dave Palmer needs to change the lineup at 3D sound…
moparkid25ParticipantNow that I’m living out in the country, I still have the Farmer Five local channels. I called the HD box number and have two coupons headed my way for converter boxes.
I still have my internet thru MHTC along with my local phone service. They also now offer cable TV and dish. Just for web and phone I’m paying $59 a month, which I don’t think is bad. I would like to get more of a tv selection but I’m not really home enough to make it worthwhile, and when I am I have plenty of work to keep me busy.
…Plus the GF has cable at her place, you can find me there on Sundays watching CSI: Miami on A&E jumpy.gif
moparkid25ParticipantBetween what they charge to get in, and what the county soaked spectators for food and drinks, is this really a bad thing?
But to play devil’s advocate, did the Madison Liberals who don’t want you to have fun with an automobile put the crunch on the GGA?
If I had to guess I would say that they don’t feel they get enough revenue from an area like Madison compared to what they in California.
moparkid25ParticipantThis morning I was in Cross Plains and the Kwik Trip on HWY 14 had regular for $2.99!
Keep it coming down!!!!
moparkid25ParticipantI think you all do an excellent job of making this forum educational, informative, and enjoyable. I’m sure any changes you intend to make will only make this website and forum better!
Thanks to all of you thumbsup.gif
moparkid25ParticipantDid the economy affect your habits as far as car shows this year?
-Not really. I personally chose not to attend as many shows this year. With helping Dad on the new house, moving in with DDhemi for a short time while in-between homes, and wanting to do other fun things I chose to cut back on my attendance on both shows and cruise-ins.
Did you attend less shows than in the past?
-Yes. When I was young and crazy I used to hit up every show I could. Nowadays I cut back to get other things done, but attend the shows I really enjoy like the Dells, Blanchardville, etc.
Were you not willing to drive as far to a show?
-No, if its a good one that I enjoy I will drive. I think the farthest I went this year was the Dells, Lancaster, and Dubuque.
Did you not spend as much money while at the show as you did in the past?-I have an addiction to collecting 1:64 scale cars. Yes, I did cut back on these, and I also cut back on food/drinks and started to pack lunches and bring my small cooler with me.
Did you not do as much to your car or cars than you were planning on doing?
-Only had a few things for the Camaro to fix, but I bought that car with the intention to have a lil fun then sell it.
Did you attend more cruise-ins than you normally would?-I attended new cruise-ins this year in Monroe. A good time and they have it every saturday in July. Didn’t get to see my fellow RoadApples much this year, but working full time and starting your own business will do that.
What are your plans for next year, especially if the economy doesn’t improve much?
-I’m looking to get another car for the summer. I’m not sure I’ll attend many more shows than I did this year, but I would like to attend more cruise-ins. I’ve won my trophys, and I’ve one awards I’ve worked hard for. I’m more interested in being able to drive and enjoy a really, really nice looking car that’s fast!
moparkid25ParticipantWhen I retire (if I live that long) I will not be able to count on social security. I started my fund at a young age, and put a large amount of my wages in it each week.
Lately, it doesn’t seem to be worth it :hammer:
moparkid25ParticipantSince I didn’t attend many shows this year, I would have to say that looking back my favorite show was The Dells. Even with sky-high gas prices the turnout was still amazing! I spent the entire weekend with good friends, drank a few too many Leinenkugels  , and had a great time even though some rain was caught off and on. It was very enjoyable for me and also very relaxing.
Other shows that I attended where I enjoyed myself was the Lancaster show, Mopars on the Mississippi, and Beloit’s Crime Stoppers Cruise Night.
With a troubled economy, and some other un-decided decisions as of late, I’m not sure what next season will bring for myself and/or a new toy if any.

I was suprised by the small number of cars that turned out for this show. I am guessing they had maybe 40 cars, tops. There were two awards in each of 10 classes. The food was excellent and was prepared outside. The music was OK, but very heavy with country and bluegrass tunes that you never hear at any other show.Congrats to Bruce and Kathy Stewart for Best In Class, Street Rods. Congrats to Earl Dahlbe and Dick Lehnherr for Best in Class Awards in stock, 1951 to 1985 class.
It really was a pleasant day in a nice setting with a handful of cars that you don’t see at other shows. This show was very heavy with local Edgerton cars. My personal favorite was a Ford COE truck street rod on a trailer that is currently a build in progress, along with a 1927 Ford Roadster that was pulled out of a barn less than a week ago and back on the road.
Marshall
Seems like a pretty big year span for a show class, but if there weren’t alot of cars its not as bad i guess.
moparkid25ParticipantThat Lensing show is a nice setting, I’ve been there before in years past.
